There's no doubt in the minds of moviegoers the world over that the only reason "Final Destination" was a breath of fresh air in the teen horror genre was because of the one-two punch of "X-Files" dudes James Wong and Glen Morgan.

The forthcoming sequel will have neither of those names attached to it.

"Final Destination 2" producer Craig Perry shared with Sci-Fi Wire that "the script is in and was very well received. We are looking for a director. We would love to continue working with director Jim Wong and his partner, producer Glen Morgan, on it, but they have so much effects work on 'The One', they could never actually help us prep the movie, because we want to shoot it in the fall."

As for the premise of the unnecessary sequel, Perry adds that "it pretty solidly builds on the mythology of the first one, and it doesn't shy away from the things that made the first one work, which are the gritty, clever, entertaining and spectacularly over-the-top death sequences. ... I think one of the things that made the first movie interesting is that it didn't rely on CGI. Most of the effects are mechanical effects, in-camera effects, special effects that were done on set practically. I think you can tell the difference, because it's a lot more organic. So we are definitely going to try and continue that ideal, because it feels like it's a real thing that you're watching. People are so attuned to CG now that they're looking for the seams--they're looking for the weight of the steps. I'd like to use the technology to sell the idea, not to have the idea be the technology."
