我覺得這些團體跳出來不意外， 學校假裝中立應該也沒啥意外。 根據《路透社》報導， 聲明表示此次哈瑪斯組織發動的大規模襲擊是過去以色列對巴勒斯坦人的種種壓迫所致， 強調「實施種族隔離的政權是唯一應受到譴責的國家」。 簽署這封「反以色列」公開信的學生組織包含穆斯林、巴勒斯坦支持團體、 哈佛猶太人解放組織和非裔美國人抵抗組織等其他具有不同背景的團體。 哈佛大學校長蓋伊（Claudine Gay）與其他15位院長在內的高階領導層在週一（9日） 發表聲明，表示對哈瑪斯在上週末造成以色列公民的死亡、破壞感到「心碎」， 但此聲明卻避開直接提及學生連署公開信以及高層對此的回應。 前美國財政部長、前哈佛校長薩莫斯（Lawrence Summers） 批評哈佛現任管理層毫無回應， 表示領導層的沉默只是讓哈佛大學對於恐怖行動勉強處在中立立場， 他也表示自己對此感到「噁心」。
